Some thoughts for this time of year

Winter memories for winter times, Hot mince pies with warm mulled wines;
We keep our cheer as the nights grow longer, Day by day our spirits grow stronger.

Although the days grow dark and cold, Our thoughts of the new year we manage to hold;
Now the solstice is here we can pack away the old year, Look to our futures with hope and with cheer.

Celebrate this day and remember days gone past, Welcome in your ancestors who time holds fast;
They lived their lives, they had their dreams, Think what they did and also what that means.

They lived the same year as us with seasons changing, Plans that were set up that needed re-arranging;
They had families to care for, to support and grow, They had fields to plow and crops to sow.

Take this time of the year to rest and plan ahead, Time to release all those thoughts in your head;
Make new plans for the new year to come, Make sure they include lots of laughter and fun.

The sun will return with warmth and joy, For each and every girl and boy;
There will be lots to do as the days grow longer, The sun will shine down stronger and stronger.

You don’t have to travel, you don’t have to stray, There is lots on your doorstep not far away;
Find what is there and find what is not, You don’t have to jet off to somewhere that’s hot.
